Job Summary


The Behavior Technician provides support and consultation to inpatients and the inpatient Rehabilitation Team to promote behavioral stability of inpatients. The Behavior Technician assists in the implementation of behavior plans, promotes the therapeutic milieu and provides teaching and support to Rehab Team.

Shift : Fri, Sat, Sun 3-11PM


Essential Job Functions

  • Collaborate with Rehab team in development and implementation of patient behavior plans

  • Coordinate and provide diversional activities to inpatients in collaboration with Child Life and Recreation Therapists

  • Assist Nursing and Rehab team in promoting patient behavioral compliance and treatment adherence through discussion, active problem-solving, modeling and direct provision of patient care

  • Other functions as assigned by supervisor(s)


Formal Education and Job-Related Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, rehabilitation counseling, social work or related field.

  • Minimum of 1-2 years experience providing behavioral support in psychiatric setting with children and/or adolescents.

  • Completed coursework in Behavior Assessment and Intervention.

  • BCBA certification is highly desirable.


Certification

American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider Certification required.

Job Specific Contacts

Constant contact with team including nursing staff, and patients. Frequent contact with other hospital personnel and volunteers. Requires excellent communication skills, tact, emotional maturity, customer sensitivity, cognitive ability to problem solve, good time management and organizational skills, ability to motivate and reinforce patients, and positive attitude . Primarily evening and weekend hour schedule.
