As a Bartender with Rumson Country Club, you will be interacting with our members and their guests at the most intimate level. Your warm, personal attention and knowledge of our Food & Beverage offerings makes members of our club feel unique and valued. At all times, bartenders are expected to be attentive to our member’s needs and making them feel welcome, comfortable, important, and relaxed.

Reports to: Bar Manager, Food & Beverage Service Manager, Banquet Manager, Dining Room Manager

Job Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:

• Stocks bar and completes other pre-opening requirements
• Receive tickets in the printers from the service staff and complete those tickets in a timely manner
• Mix liquor, soft drinks, water and other ingredients to prepare cocktails and other drinks
• Prepare mixed drinks, wine, draft or bottled beer and non-alcoholic beverages for food and beverage servers
• Prepares garnishes, fruit mixes, and pre-mixed drinks prior to opening the bar
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all products available to the members at RCC and to keep servers informed of the availability of bar products
• Receiving and placing food orders for the members from the lunch menu, the a la carte dinner menu, and the bar menu (on certain evenings at the Riverhouse bar)
• Willingness to learn the point of sale system in regards to placing food orders correctly as well as charging correctly for the beverages the members are consuming
• Staying updated on current menu choices, specialties and menu deviations, knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items…etc.
• Ensure the bar is kept in a clean and orderly condition at all times
• Operate computer system for ordering food and beverages and obtaining reports necessary at the end of the shifts
• Maintain control on inventory and ensure all beverages sold are accounted for
• Ensures that all food items are correctly stored, labeled, dated, and rotated to prevent any health or safety hazards from occurring
• Ensure compliance with liquor legislation and regulations
• In accordance with RCC standards, understand how to sell, present and serve wine
• Carry out any other tasks as assigned
• Ensure a clean and safe working environment

Job Qualifications and Experience:

• Availability to work varying schedules including weekends and holidays to reflect the business needs of the dining floor
• At least one year of experience in a restaurant or food and beverage industry
• Prefer bartending experience with knowledge of wines, liquor and beer
• Obtain an ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control) License from the Borough of Rumson
• Must comply with Covid protocols

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

• Constant standing and walking throughout shift
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs.
• Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
