Job Description - Bander 2nd Shift: 3:30pm-12:00am

A. General Purpose of Job: Theprimary purpose of this position is to assist the Welding Team by providing Banding services. Such Banding services include: Moving and banding job components as required by the work orders for the other weld teams.

B. This position impacts the profitability of the company by working efficiently, not wasting materials, using equipment properly and by not creating rework. This person must have a clear understanding of proper banding procedures and equipment safety. This position reports to an assigned Departmental Floor Leadman.

C. Technical Duties and Tasks: The employee must be able to perform the following essential duties and tasks.

Assists Other Technical Positions - Assists the welding departments and/or cells by moving and banding bundles of welded components and moving to the paint department laydown areas(s) for further processing by the paint department and performs production work as assigned to meet the needs of the Company. Examples of these duties include

D. Banding-Safely moves components stacked on carts or frames on the shop floor to a safe “banding” area and follows proper banding procedures to safely band components or frames.

Operates hoists, rigging, and cranes after appropriate training, and as needed for the safe moving and banding of frames. Safely moves frames within the shop to an area designated as a laydown area for the paint department and in a manner to prevent damage to company equipment and always being aware of the safety of co-workers.

Operates forklift to move bundles of banded components to the laydown area(s) for the paint department.

Operates various hand and power tools such as saws, staplers and cutters, etc. to prepare wood spacers for stacking of components in the weld cells and/or areas as assigned to support the work of the Company.

Staples pins to cut wood spacers for use in the building of the bundles of components in the weld cells and/or areas.

Collects and disposes of excess strapping each day.

Keeps the wood cutting area clean and free of sawdust or any other kind of debris created by the processing of the wood spacers

Measurement methods and tools – Effectively understands, uses, and performs various measurements in an accurate manner including lengths of material as measured by tape measure.

Works in a safe manner obeying Company safety policies, OSHA Guidelines,
accepted metal working methods and common safety practices. Wear appropriate safety equipment and protective devices, steel-toed boots, gloves, safety glasses and hearing protection, etc.

Other Work Duties and Tasks: The employee must be able to perform the following essential duties and tasks.

Completes required work-related documents. (Production records, QA reports, etc.) and submits in a timely manner.

Cleans work areas and equipment after work is completed. Helps maintain a clean shop environment by sweeping all floors daily, etc.

Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

E. Performance Measures:

Employees have consistently represented the Company in a professional manner.

Has maintained a job billing rate of at least 95%.

Technical aspects of the job have been performed in an acceptable manner and per Company standards.

All required work documents and reports have been completed accurately and have been submitted in a timely manner.

5. Perceived level of satisfaction regarding overall performance by the Supervisor.

F. Physical Demands:

The following on-the-job time is spent on the following physical activities:

Standing: 100% of the full time.

Walking: 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.

Climbing up or down: 1/3 of the time

Talking or hearing: Up to 1/3 of the time.

Use of hand to finger, feel, or handle: 2/3 to full time.

Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl: Up to 1/3 of the time.

Reach with hands or arms: Up to 2/3 of the time.

2. This job requires that weight be lifted, or force be exerted:

• Up to 10 lbs., up to 1/3 of the time
• Up to 50 lbs., up to 2/3 of the time
• Up to 100 lbs., up to 1/3 of the time- To be completed with partner
• More than 100 lbs., none of the time

3. This job has the following special vision requirements:

• Depth Perception [three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships]

Specific job duties that require the physical demands indicated above are good vision, manual dexterity to complete a variety of job tasks.

G. Work Environment:

1. This job requires exposure to the following environmental conditions:

Work near moving equipment: 2/3 or more of the time.

Fumes or airborne particles: 100% of the time.

2. A work environment with occasional loud noises such as

ironworkers, advancers, press equipment is typical for this job 2/3 or more of the time. Specific job duties that are affected by the above environmental conditions are working near loud, moving mechanical parts/equipment.

H. Other requirements of the position:

1. Working knowledge of basic metal working equipment.

Basic math, language and logic skills.

Ability to work quickly, correctly, cleanly, and effectively.

Ability to start work at designated start time.

Ability to meet attendance requirements of position.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.50 - $18.50 per hour
