Smallcakes Cupcakery in St. Simons Island, GA is a bakery that opened in 2014. We specialize in baking jumbo cupcakes fresh, every day, as well as many other baked goods such as cookies, brownies, Signature Cakes, etc. We also offer ice cream and frozen treats.

Smallcakes is looking to hire an awesome person to join our team as a Baker role!

As Baker - No experience required! Training will be provided!! You will be preparing, baking, icing, and decorating cupcakes and other baked goods, completing the baker's checklist, cleaning daily and as needed, helping co-workers accomplish tasks, taking advance orders via phone or Facebook, completing shift tasks and checklists, and assisting with other assigned tasks. There are possible opportunities for advancement such as lead baker, regular performance reviews with pay raises, and possible opportunities to represent Smallcakes SSI at local community events.

As Bakery Associate - You are the face of Smallcakes when a customer walks in, so your primary purpose will be providing customers with exceptional service! You will be assisting customers with selections, up-selling customers by recommending/suggesting additional items, checking out customers, baking and icing cupcakes as needed, baking cookies and other baked goods, cleaning daily and as needed, helping co-workers accomplish tasks, answering phones, completing shift tasks and opening/closing checklists, and assisting with other assigned tasks. There are possible opportunities for advancement, regular performance reviews with pay raises, and possible opportunities to represent Smallcakes SSI at local community events if interested.

Schedule & Shifts

Hours and days will vary, schedule somewhat negotiable. 20-30 hours per week available, as 2-5 days per week, typically 2-3 days per week if only baking. Will be required to work every other Saturday. Baker shifts are typically 6:30 am - 12:30/2:30 pm. Can/may work additional shifts as a Counter Attendant role if requested or as needed, shifts will vary, but typically those counter shifts will be 10:30 AM - 3 PM (close) or 2 PM - 8 PM (close). Hours and schedule somewhat negotiable.

Self-motivated - Must take initiative, does not pass personal duties/tasks off on others, sees an issue and corrects the issue or immediately brings it to a Manager's attention to fix. IE, completes tasks and checklists, you don't leave your own task for someone else to do; or if you re-stock the last pack of napkins, you let a Manager know that.

Time management - Must be able to manage your time efficiently. Must be fast-paced. Finding productive things to do with your time during your shift is crucial. IE, deep cleaning areas of the kitchen or workspace area.

Hard-worker - Getting as many tasks done during your shift as possible/allowed, not procrastinating tasks until the end of your shift.

Multi-Tasker - Must be able to multi-task due to the fast-paced environment.

Responsible - Must be personally responsible for your own actions. Dependable.

Organized - Must be organized and clean. Keeping a clean, organized workspace as you go is absolutely crucial to help prevent you from falling behind.

Responsibilities & Duties

Customer Service - being friendly to every customer, being polite (using manners) and courteous, assisting customers with purchases by guiding them on products offered, flavor options, suggesting other choices, "up-selling" by suggesting/recommending additional items/products/quantities, answering phone calls, answering Facebook/Instagram messages/comments, etc.

Cashier - counting money accurately, checking out customers quickly, balancing a drawer, taking custom/advance orders via phone, etc.

Baking - preparing, baking, icing, and garnishing cupcakes, and other baked goods such as cookies, cookies sandwiches, brownies, PUPcakes, bonbons, cake pops, macarons, cake cups, cake slices, and decorating wedding and event cakes. Making icing, filling icing bags, etc. Any other tasks as assigned. (TRAINING PROVIDED! NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!)

Cleaning - sweeping, mopping, wiping down counters and tables, cleaning the bathroom, cleaning the glass, any other cleaning as assigned, etc.

Order Fulfillment - preparing and processing orders for DoorDash, Uber Eats, and online, assisting other bakers with custom orders as needed, etc.

Social Media - posting (daily at minimum) to our Facebook and Instagram pages.

Policies & Procedures - following all policies and procedures outlined in the new hire guide.

Any other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
__________________

- Basic math and computer skills.

- Posting to social media experience, especially on a Facebook Page a plus!

- Ability to stand, walk, lift heavy items, and work with other team members in a fast-paced environment to provide excellent service.

- Attention to detail.

- Experience with baking at home a plus!

- Artistic-qualities a plus!

- Baking and/or decorating baked goods, sales, cashier, retail or key-holder experience a plus!

- No experience required, will train the right person, but a passion and desire for learning to bake and decorate is needed!

Pay
______

Pay is about $14-$16 per hour. Regular performance reviews every 6 months with opportunity to earn pay raises. Also opportunities for advancement/promotions available.
