The Backup Engineer becomes part of the Backup as a Service team that develops new features, schedule platform Life Cycle Management, performs business impact analysis and performs infrastructure risk assessment of the DGC Datacenters and Services.

Duties include, but not limited to:

• Check backup reports and monitor for failures, take corrective action when necessary

• Perform scheduled restores and continuous testing of data retrieval

• Work with other Technology teams to develop and enhance the backup and DR solutions

• Maintain industry knowledge of developing technology and trends in your field

• Understand requirements and changes to regulations to ensure DGC meets required objectives for data recovery and retention

• Coordinate the review, maintenance and testing of product and business department Business Continuity Plans, working with business managers to ensure these plans remain valid and fit for purpose.

• Conduct regular business impact assessments with Product teams and business units to quantify Business Continuity requirements and identify required Business Continuity Plans enhancements.

• Coordinate the review, maintenance and testing of technology Disaster Recovery Plans for core infrastructure services, working with IT technicians and Infrastructure management to ensure these plans remain valid and fit for purpose.

Essential Criteria:

• Certification in a major backup technology

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a backup administrator for a large complex environment

• Minimum 4-6 years of industry experience

• Knowledge of Windows and Linux and Microsoft SQL server

• Understanding of Data retention and recovery frameworks

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Experience with multiple backup technologies.

• Experience with any of the Backup Product Backup Exec, Veeam.

• Experience with DevOps and scripting.

• Strong quantitative and qualitative reasoning skills, with demonstrated ability to determine root cause to performance shortfalls and implement corrective actions.

• Knowledge of Agile Framework, CI/CD Pipeline, Jira, DevOps etc. Desirable.

• Should exhibit knowledge to integrate Data protection infrastructure and applications using cloud.

• Should be innovative and interested to optimize the solution with upcoming technologies.

• Experience working within global teams.

• Strong problem isolation and resolutions skills required.

• Understanding of Virtualized Environment.

• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

• Aptitude for learning and ability to incorporate new skills and technologies.

• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.

• Good Written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to build good relationships

• Regularly required to talk or hear.

• Required to sit for long periods and reach with hands and arms.

• Occasionally required to stand; walk.

• Occasionally required lifting up to 25 pounds.
