Brief Position Overview
The primary responsibility of this position provides audit and accounting duties in support of the accounts payable function in the Business Services department. Audit of accounts payable documents for all departments involves inspecting documents for accuracy, compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and policies, and ensuring all required documentation is provided. We are looking for a detail-oriented accounts payable specialist to control and monitor expenses. You will be processing payments, verifying invoices, and performing account reconciliations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review and process all Banner Payment Authorizations and team travel advance requests for accuracy, approvals, compliance, and sufficient documentation
  • Overview of document tracking processes
  • Assist in accounting for all Fiscal Year End Accounts Payable orders & payments and accrual orders
  • Guide university departments in compliance of Policies and Procedures.
  • Assist with copier supplies and service requests
  • Tracking Invoices and reconciling Statements
  • Reporting non-compliance to supervisor
  • Knowledge of Banner Finance and Accounts Payable Modules
  • General knowledge of mailroom procedures to assist as needed during peak times or staff absences


Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Education Required:
  • Associates Degree in a related field, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience Required:
  • Progressively responsible administrative work in a busy office setting with an emphasis on high level administrative support or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Customer service experience dealing effectively and diplomatically with a variety of people
  • Proficient experience using computers and various software including MS Office Suite.
  • Accounting or bookkeeping experience which includes processing and tracking of expense or revenue transactions or other detailed financial data
  • Reliable and Dependable
  • Ability to problem solve and manage tasks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • To ensure success as an accounts payable specialist, you should exhibit sound knowledge of best practices in accounting and experience in a similar role.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Education Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience Preferred:
  • University experience preferred
  • Banner experience preferred
  • Accounts payable experience preferred
