The City of Harrisonburg's Commissioner of the Revenue is seeking candidates with current/prior accounting, auditing, assessment, tax return preparation, or related experience to become the next Auditor for the office. This Auditor position is a full-time, exempt role with benefits and a preferred hiring range of $28.05 - $32.26 per hour (equivalent to $58,344 - $67,100 annually); however, an exact salary will be dependent upon the selected candidate's qualifications and experience and in compliance with City Policy Section 3: Compensation.

As the Auditor, you'll perform a variety of difficult administrative work related to detailed discovery, including conducting the discovery and client selection, in addition to performing research to resolve taxation and licensing issues. In this role, you'll perform in-depth, objective, and confidential evaluations and compliance audits in addition to related fieldwork on all businesses operating a licensable, fiduciary, or property taxable operation in the City of Harrisonburg.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field and moderate (1-3 years) experience in accounting, auditing, assessment, tax return preparation or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
