Attorneys in the General Law Bureau defend the State of Illinois and its agencies, officials, and employees in state and/or federal court in matters involving civil rights, class actions, commercial disputes, tort law, licensing, and employment discrimination.

• As an Assistant Attorney General, you will gain unparalleled experience handling your own cases with the assistance of experienced supervisors and coworkers. The Office offers a broad array of in-house training that includes workshops and other practical continuing legal education courses.

If hired, you will be assigned cases in one or more of the following practice areas:

• Civil Prosecutions / Administrative Review
• Civil Trials
• Court of Claims
• Prisoner Litigation

We are looking for talented attorneys with superior legal research and writing skills, and a demonstrated commitment to public service. Attorneys must be licensed to practice law in Illinois at the time of application. Some travel is required. Salaries are commensurate with years of practice and start at $73,548 per year.
