Certified Athletic Trainer
Orthopedic Clinic
Reports to: Director of Orthopedics/Sports Medicine
FLSA Classification: Full-time, Non-exempt, Salary
Pioneers Medical Center will lead the effort to improve the health and wellbeing of
our
community.
Essential Functions

  • Fill medications, order tests and images, per physician direction.
  • Assist with charting.
  • Coordinate and communicate with all members o the medical team.
  • Assist in manual therapy/OMT as directed by physician.
  • Create, distribute, and direct home exercise programs for patients as directed by

physician.

  • Follow up with patients as needed.
  • Coordinate with physical therapy as needed.
  • Assist team with rooming patients, answering phones, and escorting patients through

the hospital as needed.

  • Coordinate the team to insure patients are waiting as little as possible.
  • Assist in physician’s schedule for sports medicine coverage and coordinate these dates

with the team.

  • Coordinate with team to scheduled patients with spine surgeon, scheduling surgery as

needed, and coordinate post-operative follow up appointments.

  • Provide patient education on surgery and physical activity following surgery. Be

available to answer patient questions.

  • Provide fitting and distribute of DME as prescribed by the physician.
  • Provide casting, splinting, and taping as prescribed by the physician.
  • Provide medical coverage for all Meeker High School practices and games.
  • Provide medical coverage as needed for Barone Middle School.
  • Re[port major/concerning issues to the physician and coordinate appropriate care as

directed by physician.

  • Coordinate with SNCC athletic trainer for coverage of CNCC sports.
  • Assist in scheduling CNCC athletes at the CNCC clinic or the CAO clinic.

  • Schedule athletes from MHS and CNCC with physicians as needed.
  • Coordinate/provide care at the High School as directed by physician.
  • Communicate with coaching staff and school administration if additional care is needed.
  • Assure concussed athletes are properly seen by physician and follow the return to

learn/play protocol as outlined by state law.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Current, unencumbered Colorado license required.
  • Certified Athletic Trainer required.
  • Current BLS certification within six (6) months of hire or transfer required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary positon 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to move and traverse about the facility 50% of the time.
  • Frequently transport objects weighing up to 50lbs
  • Occasionally position objects weighing up to 100lbs.
  • Must be able to communicate and exchange information in a way others will

understand.

  • Must be able to recognize details such as color and depth within a few feet of the

observer.

  • Frequently operates computers, machinery, and other healthcare equipment.
