Role/Responsibilities

This role will play a critical part in helping us modernize our approach to workflow data management, including to identify potential data sources, establish best practices to assess and monitor quality of data, and enhance our data management practices. Given its elevated profile in the business, this role will be involved in extensive interaction with a wide range of managerial personnel within Ratings & Research and key stakeholders across Moody’s Corporation companies. The role will interact heavily with value stream owners, process owners and data stewards in other business groups, as well as with MIS Technology staff including Product, Data and Architecture teams.
The incumbent is expected to be fluent in modern data management and data structures (e.g., data mesh, data domains), and comfortable with the concepts of Lean Six Sigma, Design Thinking and Agile approaches. The AVP will report to the Associate Managing Director of R&R’s process and data steward team.
This role will be instrumental in success of a multi-year initiative to transform our workflow data, work processes and associated technology, with the ultimate goal of improving customer service and enhancing internal efficiency and quality. The successful candidate will need to be decisive, pragmatic, strategic and garner extensive internal credibility.
The position holder is responsible for definition, management and governance of the data used to enable the future state ratings workflow. Core accountabilities include:
  • Investigate, define and continuously improve data attributes for key workflow data sets to support expanding digitization of the ratings workflow
  • Develop initial set of harmonized data requirements across our workflow contributing to efficiency and quality enhancements
  • Responsible for the use of accepted data definitions, common reference data and sound data usage practices within R&R and relevant stakeholders
  • Work with technology, data, and process teams to develop next generation data structure plan including data repositories, connections, data management and governance
  • Engage across key MIS stakeholders to determine the data required to deliver the target state ratings workflow, and map the end-to-end data journey
  • Design and monitor key performance indicators related to key data processes and data quality, and monitor and report on observed process performance including to suggest data enhancements
  • Establish a rigorous and consistent framework for data changes and align this approach with stakeholder teams
  • Act as key peer to the Product Org to ensure roadmaps reflect data strategy and requirements
  • Challenge the status quo and provide an innovative way of thinking for out-of-the-box data solutions and data performance metrics
  • Be the key point of contact for relevant workflow data domains
  • Partner deeply with customer-facing teams, value stream owners, related data and process owners, to ensure consistency of approach and sharing of best practices between R&R and other MCO business groups
  • Work closely with our MIS Technology data partners to establish and champion enterprise-wide data performance analytics and data management best practices
  • Working with our learning and process teams to develop data training, communication plans and roll-out plans for key data and technology enhancements and to emphasize the importance of data quality

Data Management:

  • Hands-on experience using Master Data Management and Data Governance tools.

  • Understanding of data management concepts and associated business processes and tools, specifically Data Modelling, Data Warehousing, and Data Quality.

  • Familiar with the roles of Risk Owner/Process Owner/Product Owner and Data Owner.

  • Build enduring relationships with internal stakeholders – including Commercial, MIS Tech, Digital Product, Ratings, Finance functions.

Qualifications

  • Established career in data management and data transformation roles, such as Data Management / Office of the CDO or BI / Analytics team
  • Professional data management qualifications (degree, diploma, certificate, etc.) preferable
  • Established track record of working with Technology (including experience with API’s) and agile methodology
  • Demonstratable experience handling large amount of data, bringing order and rigour to unstructured data environments and enhancing accuracy
  • Ability to deliver data journey changes
  • Yellow, Green or Black Belt process qualification would be beneficial
  • Self-starter with ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple, competing priorities
  • Strong attention to detail in their work, communication and planning
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks as well as work towards tight deadlines.
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities
  • Experienced in multi-functions and multi-years implementation or transformation initiatives
  • Comfortable in engaging at very Senior Level as well as a very detailed/analytical level
  • Intellectually curious, innovative, open minded, and creative problem solver with impeccable judgement

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $114,600 to $166,200, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
