Monolith is excited to announce its search for an Associate Rubber Lab Technician.

Your Role:
The Associate Rubber Lab Technician is responsible for completing the day-to-day responsibilities of operating the Monolith rubber lab. In addition, the Rubber Lab Technician will be working with rubber compounds and gain sound knowledge and experience with rubber lab processes, equipment, scheduling, and workflows.
You Will:

  • Effectively complete all identified rubber testing and processing plans in a safe, timely, and efficient manner
  • Gain an understanding of rubber mixing and processing in a lab environment
  • Must be at least 5'7" and be able to safely operate most lab equipment including the Banbury mixer, and execute tensile testing, RPA testing, etc
  • Collaborates with leadership to execute all rubber lab work
  • Efficient in rubber processing steps: Material preparation and mixer loading in addition to cutting specimens, etc
  • Work a 10-hour swing shift four days a week, or 8-hour shift five days a week, whichever is necessary
  • Conduct rubber/plastic compounding, processing, and testing in a safe, timely, and efficient manner. This will include material preparation/weigh-up, mixer loading and operation, cutting of specimens, tensile testing etc
  • Report findings and log data in an attentive, concise, and accurate manner.
  • Actively contribute to and support our strong safety culture
  • Produce accurate and precise elastomer data that will be used for product development, quality analysis, research purposes
  • Assist in development of new test methods and instrument commissioning
  • Learn to work in a clean and organized manner and assist in lab cleanings
  • Report all safety incidents and contribute to the safety culture of the lab
  • Gain an understanding of elastomer properties/chemistry and polymer-filler interaction
  • Perform other duties as needed

You have:

  • Prior experience in an elastomer industry, ideally in a rubber mixing environment or in a lab environment is recommended but not required, or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the job duties and responsibilities.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required

Work Environment
Primarily in an active laboratory environment with some time in an open office environment.
Travel
Less than 10% travel may be required for visiting other Monolith sites in the Lincoln area.
