Lexicon Pharmaceuticals is currently seeking a motivated candidate for an Associate Director, DMPK supporting the drug discovery and IND enabling programs. Lexicon may be flexible with the position location depending upon the candidate, however regular in-person collaboration will be expected in the New Jersey and/or Texas Lexicon offices determined by business need.

Job Summary:

The Associate Director, DMPK will collaborate, align and support the discovery of new drug candidates. He/she will provide technical and scientific leadership, support and expertise on ADME, PK, pharmacology and toxicology for non-clinical studies.

Key Responsibilities include but will not be limited to:

• Represent DMPK in multifunctional discovery project teams
• Design and execute preclinical studies to understand the pharmacokinetics (PK) and absorption, metabolism, distribution, and excretion (ADME) of drug candidates.
• Participate in the selection and management of CROs for the conduct of in vitro/in vivo ADME studies, including IND-enabling studies and studies to support clinical development.
• Provide expertise in human PK and efficacious dose prediction of drug candidates using different approaches.
• Author high quality Regulatory documents including INDs, CTAs and other regulatory filings.
• Partner with and support Medicinal Chemistry, Toxicology, Regulatory, Clinical, Project Management and other departments by implementing ADME strategies that meet regulatory requirements and program goals.

• MS or Ph.D. degree in a Life Science or related field from an accredited college or university.
• 5+ years of industry experience in design, conduct, and reporting of ADME, PK, Pharmacology, and Toxicology study
• Experience with small molecules is desired
• Experience in conducting in vivo studies is desired
• Ability to plan, organize, and critically assess and/or perform PK/PD data analyses.
• Knowledge of the latest in technological and regulatory advances in the DMPK arena and demonstrate strong interest and expertise in PK and physicochemical properties modeling techniques.
• Strong knowledge of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics principles.
• Experience in serving as the lead ADME/PK expert on discovery and lead optimization teams.
• Experience in applying DMPK concepts and principles to drug discovery and development.
• Ability to effectively interface with internal customers
• Excellent organization and multitasking skills with an ability to evaluate and reorganize priorities quickly in a dynamic matrixed setting
• Excellent interpersonal skills, personal integrity, professional manner and ability to gain respect and develop good working relationship with cross functional personnel at all levels
• Outstanding oral communication, written communication and presentation skills
• Ability to travel to and from New Jersey and Texas as needed.
