Underwood After School Program (UASP) seeks an Associate Director starting July 2023. UASP is a private, non-profit after school program serving children in grades K-5. We are located in the Underwood Elementary School in Newton, MA. Our signature programming includes specialized clubs that include STEM, outdoor and physical activities, art, dramatic arts, music, and much more. The Associate Director is responsible for assisting the Executive Director in all areas related to the operations of the after school program. This includes overseeing the curriculum/program development, facilitating recruitment and retention, fostering professional development of staff, implementing initiatives related to the after school program experience and ensuring overall students well-being in the program. In addition, the Associate Director is responsible for enrollment and registration and parent/family communication. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, hours generally between 10:30AM-6:30PM. Summer hours are slightly different and offered in a hybrid model.

Responsibilities:
● Work closely with the Executive Director, collaborate on strategic thinking, budgeting and program wide planning.
● Maintain records for the program.
● Oversee and update program policies and procedures.
● Manage online registration and monthly billing.
● Cultivate and strengthen relationships with parents, families, staff and community members.
● Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop and implement ongoing annual fundraising for the program.
● Assist in hiring, training, mentoring and evaluating staff.
● Manage day to day operations of the program including overseeing parent communication, student attendance, daily activity calendars, and supply ordering.
● Liaise and partner with outside organizations as needed.
● Collaborate with the Director to build and sustain partnerships with both the city and school department.
● Demonstrate great individual initiative, self-awareness and communication skills.
● Commitment to personal and professional growth and ability to receive and apply feedback.

Qualifications and Requirements:

● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
● Must be able to pass both CORI and SORI criminal background checks, as well as a fingerprint check against a national criminal database.
● Minimum of one year prior experience with school-age children in a school, after school, camp, or other educational setting.
● An understanding of the developmental needs of children aged 5-11.
● Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
● Ability to work collaboratively in a high functioning team setting.
● Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
● Demonstrated success in managing and empowering a team, characterized by integrity, collaboration, and flexibility.
● Familiarity with EEC licensing is a plus.
● Demonstrated success with fundraising campaigns is a plus.
