Position Summary:
Directs the overall day-to-day operations, administration and provision of services, programs and staff functions of the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies (WPH). Provides management oversight for the development of high quality, cost effective, and integrated clinical programs within the hospital.
Responsibilities:
  • Provides leadership on all matters regarding finance, service, quality, operations, and facilities.
  • Defines, develops, and directs implementation of goals and programs for the provision of patient and support services that is commensurate with the overall strategic plan for Orlando Health.
  • Leads administrative staff and departmental managers as assigned. Effectively recommends appointments, promotions, transfers, and other actions.
  • Promotes and facilitates effective communication between members of Orlando Health administrative staff, clinical chairs, managers, and staff.
  • Determines need for and prioritizes allocation of space, fiscal and material resources for departments, centers, and other organizational units.
  • Recommends the development of and oversees the implementation of administrative policies, including:
o Interpreting policies, goals, objectives and operating procedures to administrative staff, managers, and support staff.
o Monitors operations and budgets of the WPH centers, departments, and other organizational units.
  • Monitors and implements accreditation and regulatory standards.
  • Conducts and provides oversight of special studies at the request of the President including representing the President when away or as assigned.
  • Manages the interactions and relationships with the Orlando Health Foundation in support of the operations of Orlando Health.
  • Appropriately represents OHWPH at the Orlando Health Board of Directors level.
  • Functions as an effective liaison for Medical Staff meetings, Foundation activities and community events.
  • Exercises management responsibility over hospital operations to ensure that the needs of patients, family members, team members and physicians are addressed appropriately. This will be done directly or indirectly through delegation to other members of the leadership team.
  • Prepares reports, performs analysis and review of services provided to ensure quality, cost effectiveness and appropriateness in the designed departments.
  • Coordinates with medical directors and medical staff members to ensure necessary input and evaluation of services, as well as strategic initiatives.
  • Negotiates other contracts as needed to achieve strategy operational objectives.
  • Ensures structure of high performing management team with clear accountabilities in all areas within OHWPH operations.

  • Ensures that departments are properly organized, managed, supervised and staffed.
  • Ensures culture of customer services throughout operations.
  • Ensures that operations conform to local, state, and federal governmental regulations.
  • Coordinates operations as appropriate with other Orlando Health executives and administrators.
  • Enhances professional growth and maintains awareness of current industry trends, legislation or research which could impact strategy or operations in healthcare.
  • Plans, leads, organizes, directs, and evaluatesthe delivery of patient care in the surgical environment.

  • Directs daily operations for surgical services at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies to include inpatient
surgery, outpatient surgery, preoperative and post anesthesia care, Preadmission Testing, Sterile Processing, and other associated services within a multi hospital system and Level One Trauma Center.
  • Develops effective surgical systems to ensure optimal outcomes that enhance service delivery goals.
  • Collaborate with CNO in providing support and direction for CMO, CFO, nursing, ancillary and surgical services.
  • Ensures that surgical operations conform with local, state, and federal governmental regulations.
Other Related Functions
  • Develops and fosters effective collaboration between departments, medical staff leadership and other affiliated services to
ensure that an integrated approach to service provision is maintained.
  • Suggests new business strategies to enhance market share and improve overall performance.
  • Leads and supports key committees pertaining to the overall strategic and operational goals of OHWPH.
  • Manages and monitors program development, quality, fiscal management, compliance measures, physician relationships and outreach strategies.
  • Collaborates with supply chain and information services to enhance systems for documentation, inventory, data retrieval, and supply management.
  • Represent the hospital to the external market through appropriate community relations and marketing activities.
  • Establishes processes to ensure adequate management development and to provide for capable management succession.
Recommends changes in organization required by development and growth.
  • Coordinates with members of the medical staff and medical education to ensure necessary input and evaluation of services, as well as strategic initiatives involving surgical services.

Qualifications:
Work requires five (5) years of executive, financial, and/or operational experience in a large healthcare organization to include productivity enhancement, cost reduction, new program development and quality management.

Education/Training

  • A Master’s Degree in Hospital/Health Administration, Business Administration, Public Health or related field is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the laws, regulations and accreditation standards applicable to hospitals; specific knowledge of
Academic Teaching Center and departmental policies, procedures and infrastructure is necessary.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, maturity and flexibility, coupled with high levels of energy, and resourcefulness.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
