Salus Discovery is looking to welcome a driven and passionate Assistant Scientist to support development of rapid, point-of-care, paper-based, medical diagnostics products. Candidates must demonstrate a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to innovate and be motivated by continuous improvement
- Knowledge of experimental design & interpretation
- Laboratory skills, such as: protein purification, antibody conjugation, solution preparation, ELISA experience, immunoassays, paper microfluidics
- Willingness to process and handle biological samples
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
Experience and Education
- BS in chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, bioengineering or related field
- Experience developing / engineering membrane-based immunochromatographic assays (e.g., lateral flow tests) is highly desirable

Salus Discovery’s initial focus has been on Exclusion-based Sample Preparation (ESP), which is a novel approach to isolating biomarkers, that is quicker, easier, and more economical than competing technologies. The first product (EXTRACTMANTM) using Salus technology was launched in 2016 by Gilson, Inc., Inc. Salus Discovery has since received funding to develop cutting-edge research tools and diagnostics for HIV, tuberculosis, schistosomiasis, SARS-CoV-2, and cancer. Located on the capitol square in the heart of Madison, Wisconsin, Salus Discovery is continuing to grow developing partnerships with industry-leading companies.
