Under the direction of the Registrar for Touring Exhibitions:

Coordinate internal approval, packing, crating, shipping, courier, and security arrangements for the transport of MFA artworks to and from borrowing institutions.


Essential Functions:

  • Assist with and provide logistical support for the management of the MFA’s Collections Partnership Program (touring exhibitions).
  • Assist with booking flights and hotels, and other necessary arrangements, for MFA couriers accompanying loans and exhibitions.
  • In coordination with the Registrar’s Office and other MFA programming, assist with maintenance and development of shipping and packing schedules, coordination of courier schedules, scheduling of staging area use, and management of the crate reuse program.
  • Create and maintain records in the collections database, and assist with coordination of touring exhibition approval paperwork for Collections Committee.
  • Assist the Registrar for Touring Exhibitions with all correspondence and documentation.
  • Manage touring exhibitions as assigned by the Registrar for Touring Exhibitions.
  • Oversee and maintain accounting and billing for shipping, couriers, and conservation expenses relating to touring exhibitions.
  • Travel as a courier for individual loans and exhibitions.
  • Release and receive shipments for touring exhibitions, MFA exhibitions, and loans.
  • Assist the Registrar’s Office with other projects/duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in art-related field or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Two years of museum registrar experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally.
  • Ability to execute, with caution and good judgment, some physical work, including but not limited to placing dollies under crates, carrying boxes and objects of approximately 20 lbs, and standing on shipping dock for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in working with electronic data/collections databases required.
  • Ability to perform tasks in professional manner and with discretion when working with confidential records.
  • The successful candidate must be precise and highly organized, have excellent communication and relationship management skills, and work well as part of a team.


Salary Range:

Full-Time Salary, 35 hours per week

Salary: $53,395 - $56,000

This position is affiliated with the UAW union.
