Responsibilities:

The Assistant Purchasing Manager is responsible for the purchasing, receiving and inventory control for all products for all outlets under the protocols set by HBRE Director of Purchasing and Receiving. The purchasing function includes all food and beverage items (meat, poultry, produce, dairy). In addition, maintains and orders chemicals for dishwashing machines. Evaluates all quotes and coordinates with vendors to provide required component bids and analyze all vendor performance to improve purchasing process. The Assistant Purchasing Manager will have full decision-making authority and responsibility in the Director of Purchasing and Receiving Manager’s absence. The position is expected to work nights and weekend based upon business needs.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with all suppliers and prepares reports for the Director of Purchasing and Receiving Manager and the purchasing department.
  • Provides support to all managers to plan and execute all purchasing processes and provide an effective and efficient collaboration with all departments of the hotel and conference center operations.
  • Coordinates everyday activities of all the stewards/receivers and provides training to ensure compliance and monitor all purchasing activities. The position also entails leading all aspects of the proper receiving and storage function as well as the sanitation and cleanliness of the food and beverage storage areas. Will work with local health department to ensure that the health code regulations set-forth are met and maintained and coordinates regularly scheduled site health code inspections. Directly oversees (2) stewards/receivers.

Qualifications:

  • 2 Year College Degree/Associates preferred
  • 2-5 years' experience in a full-service hotel/restaurant with purchasing and receiving responsibilities
  • Culinary experience preferred
  • Proficient in Word, Excel
  • Knowledge of accounting procedures
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Knowledge of financial systems
  • Organizational skills
The hiring range for this position is $58,000 to $83,400. The final salary offer will vary based on individual education, skills, and experience.
