Bachoco OK Foods is seeking a
Assistant Plant Manager for our
Fort Smith, AR location.
Summary: This APM is responsible for ensuring that supervisory teams work with and train employees to make certain they are getting the best yield and quality from the product. Follows all USDA and in-plant rules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Keeps plant management informed of any production, maintenance, supply or logistics problems.
- Trains employees.
- Ensures that all employees are following safety guidelines.
- Has knowledge of company payroll procedures.
- Evaluates line performance to insure we achieve most economical process and maintain high standard of quality.
- Understands company specifications on all products and proper operating in a safe and quality environment to achieve goals of line performance.
- Performs all other assigned duties as necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages subordinate supervisory personnel who supervise other employees in Plant 1 & Reed Lane. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and previous plant operations management experience. Poultry management experience required. Experience in portioning and further processing desired. Must possess analytical business knowledge.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Contact Management systems; Manufacturing software; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
