JOB SUMMARY

Assist Golf Course Superintendent and Senior Assistant Superintendent in maintaining Ocean/Heron Point golf courses as world-class facilities for the pleasure of members and guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares daily assignments.
• Works directly with staff to see assignments are performed to level needed.
• Maintains the irrigation system in good operating condition.
• Makes decisions in absence of Golf Course Superintendent and Senior Assistant Superintendent.
• Trains employees to perform duties.
• Oversees and conducts special projects as needed.
• Calibrates and operates spray equipment as needed.
• Oversees the safety of Golf Maintenance equipment and operations.
• Prepares biweekly time cards for Personnel.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with maintenance staff of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and education levels.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems involving suppliers, equipment, and supplies in a timely and effective manner. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to make quick, correct decisions in the absence of the Head Golf Course Superintendent or Senior Assistant Superintendent.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Must be able to operate and train others to use, irrigation equipment, and spray equipment. Must be able to use computers in the job.

SOCIAL SKILLS

Candidate must be able to communicate well with others inside the company (Pro Shop, staff, other golf course employees, and management) as well.as with people outside the company (members, guests, vendors, etc.).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for carrying out plans made by the Golf Course Superintendent and Senior Assistant Superintendent. Sees that maintenance employees operate equipment is a safe, effective, and efficient manner

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Two-year degree in turf management or related area; and two or more years related golf course maintenance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Background experience as Spray/Irrigation Technician needed.
• Good knowledge of chemicals used for golf course maintenance.
