This is a new junior attorney position that will report to the Managing Counsel that supports business operations including Human Resources, Line Operations, Health & Safety, and Ethics. In this role, you will have the opportunity to hone your skills as a generalist providing legal advice on a wide range of matters including labor and employment, investigations, risk mitigation, legal analysis and consultation, litigation, document production, and business partner education. This work supports a culture that values consultation and collaboration.
The attorney in this position will work primarily with the Wildfire Mitigation & Resiliency department to advise on emerging legal issues related to wildfire and their related impacts. This is an exciting opportunity to develop expertise in an area of law that is evolving in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.

Key Responsibilities
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Providing excellent legal advice and counsel to a broad assortment of internal partners on a variety of topics with a particular emphasis on mitigating litigation risks.
  • Preparing and reviewing legal documents and providing legal analysis, interpretations, and recommendations in compliance with corporate policies and applicable law.
  • Overseeing and assisting with document collection and discovery matters.
  • Overseeing and conducting internal investigations.
  • Selecting and preparing witnesses for labor arbitrations and other legal matters.
  • Educating and training internal partners on legal topics and risk mitigation.
  • Implementing best practices and procedures that will mitigate the company’s risk.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Carrying out other appropriate duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
Legal Services – Legal Practice Contributing to the protection of the company’s legal interests and compliance with applicable laws and regulations and facilitating achievement of corporate objectives through individual practice by responsibly providing timely, high-quality, thorough and cost-effective counsel concerning legal issues and providing a full range of legal services to the organization.
Outside Services Consulting with manager and if applicable, General Counsel regarding when to engage outside counsel or other outside services; establishing statements of work and objectives; overseeing selection of appropriate external resources; negotiating rates; overseeing performance to established statements of work and monitoring completion.
Risk Mitigation Supporting risk mitigation for areas of engagement, ensuring risks are identified and internal partners have information on potential risk mitigation strategies.
Education/Experience/Certifications
Requires a Juris Doctor degree.
Typically, four to eight years experience as a litigator. Experience in labor, employment, or wildfire cases a plus.
Admitted to the Oregon State Bar or be willing and able to become a member of the Oregon State Bar.

Compensation Range:
$119,775.00 - $199,625.00
