We are seeking an energetic and highly motivated individual to fill a key position on our Operations team as an Assistant of Director of Operations at our American Canyon, CA.

In this critical role, the Assistant Director of Operations will lead our Fulfillment Center Operations Management Team. You are expected to lead strategic initiatives within WineDirect to support our clients and achieve operational excellence. We are looking for an energized individual who is ready to solve interesting challenges like flexing staff based on peaks and valleys of order flow, scaling our supply chain to meet future needs, optimizing operational processes to drive daily goals, improving inefficiencies, and meeting strict Service Level Agreements with our clients. At the same time, you'll build partnerships with key suppliers and internal business partners and help our executive management team with long-term operations-strategy initiatives.

What you'll be doing:

  • Ensuring commitment to Service Level Agreements. Analytical volume forecasting, labor planning and operational needs assessment.
  • Inventory Accuracy / Cycle Counting - Ensures proper control and management of inventory and that cycle count objectives are achieved and in line with company objectives.
  • Inbound/outbound freight, intercompany transfers and all components of our Safety Program and equipment maintenance.
  • Collaborate with our sister Operations Team's as well as Marketing, Sales, Client Success, Finance, IT, Procurement and Talent & Culture Teams.
  • Partner Management – Successfully manage and grow relationships with vendors and 3rd party service providers.
  • Ensure the proper processes, policies and procedural compliance of quality regulation in the operations, as well as improves the operational systems in support of organizations mission.
  • Focuses on cost management, labor deployment and processing times.
  • Works to minimize the number of non-conformances in the area of safety, customer returns and warehousing and logistics processes.
  • Adjusts the organization as needed. Ensure the site's processes are documented, well understood, and followed by warehouse personnel.
  • Deploys and manages key processes indicators (KPI's) to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the Warehouse Operations Management team.
  • Conducts root cause assessments and deploys countermeasures and improvements to optimize the operations.
  • Supports growth initiatives through the analysis of space, facility requirements, and potential process change.
  • Managing to a Budget – Responsible for budgeting, forecasting all Operations accounts.
  • Ensure all drivers, fleet, warehouse equipment and distribution facilities are compliant with DOT/OSHA/FDA regulations.
  • Conducts Safety Meetings with the support of the Warehouse Managers
  • Ability to occasionally lift more than 50lbs.

Who you are:

Candidates must possess highly developed sense of empathy, with a focus on ensuring the best experience for our partners, clients, and the end-consumer.

  • BA in Business/Finance/Economics/Operations or at least 10 years of demonstrated Operations Management experience and vision in managing large staff, groups and major projects or initiatives.
  • 5+ years of Logistics/Fulfillment experience
  • An energizing and inspiring leader.
  • Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational, writing and presentation skills.
  • Customer Service minded and forward thinking.
  • Proven ability to build a successful team.
  • Solution Driven – The ability to communicate operational issues and concerns openly and honestly
  • Deep understanding of accounting, reporting and annual budgeting.
  • Excel at operating in a fast paced, community environment.
  • Possess the ability to use data to create an execution plan
  • Exceptional listening and negotiation skills.
  • Solid analytical skills in forecasting, staffing and anticipating operational needs.
  • Possess the ability to exercise good judgment, define issues, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions using sound decision making skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and time management.
  • Advanced computer skills, specifically with MS Office Suite products, and demonstrable, advanced Excel skills.
  • Hands-on, detailed expertise when needed at all levels within the Supply Chain organization.
