The Assistant Director of Facility Operations and Logistics is a member of the College’s Facilities Management team and contributor to campus initiatives for capital projects, the residential experience, and the modernization of campus. The assistant director is responsible for assessing the completion of projects conducted by maintenance, technicians, and utility workers, as well as identifying improvements to the grounds of the campus. The assistant director will be responsible for ensuring logistics for use of the grounds, including coordination of scheduled events by the Facilities Management Team, Campus Safety, Athletic Department, Auxiliary Services, and contracted labor.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists with organization and supervision of facilities team members and as directed by the Facilities Director.
  • In collaboration with Auxiliary Services, ensures logistics of use for all campus facilities, including meeting spaces, athletic facilities, and reception venues. Notifies interested parties and ensures that locations are adequately prepared for use.
  • Ensures quality control of projects on campus is adhered to and consistent with the student, faculty and staff experience desired. Inspects quality of work and closes work tickets with adequate feedback with end-user.
  • Assist the Utility Laborer(s) with campus furniture moves and special set ups, such as, but not limited to, Graduation and other College special events.
  • Assist, in the event of, resolving emergency and urgent situations occurring during night and weekend hours, such as coordination of contracted services, notification to impacted parties, and other local officials as necessary.
  • Assists grounds crew with snow and ice removal during peak weather events.
  • Maintains equipment required to perform duties.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and employees and contribute to a positive campus experience.
  • Class E license required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to use all types of ladders, operate lifts, and other equipment/machinery
  • Must be organized and manage competing demands
Working Conditions
  • Normal working hours of Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday
  • Flexible work environment
  • Must possess the physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to work in extreme conditions with exposure to varying temperatures, humidity and weather conditions
  • Weekend and overtime work required in emergency and peak environments
