Job Summary

This is a full-time, entry level position consisting of both Front-of-House and Back-of-House responsibilities. Time will be split between working in the brewery under the management of the Head Brewer, while the remainder of the schedule will be filled as a beertender in the taproom. The assistant brewer is responsible for performing all tasks following standard operating procedures in a safe, cooperative, team-based fashion. Beertenders are responsible for creating a great customer experience, providing excellent knowledge of our products while working timely and efficiently to service our guests. This is an entry level, split position that can grow into a full time Brewer position in time. Everything the Head Brewer knows about beer and brewing, you will know with time.

Duties include but not limited to:

Assistant Brewer 3 shifts/week and Beertender 2 shifts/week

• Report Directly to the Head Brewer
• Assist in organizing and cleaning the cold room for service once-twice a week
• CLEANINGDraft Lines, Brew Area, Kegs, Dry Storage, everything and more

• Assist in Packaging Beer into Cans, Bottles and Kegs
• Clean-in-place processing of Fermenters, Brite Tanks and Serving Tanks
• Assist in building malt bills for upcoming recipes, milling grain, staging ingredients
• Take inventory of packaged beer, ingredients, chemicals and packaging supplies
• Take gravities/pH of in-process beer
• Assist on brew days as needed
• Assist in cellar tasks such as dry hopping, fruiting, recirculating tanks as needed
• Respond to guest complaints
• Check identification of guests in order to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
• Ensure 100% compliance with all Company policies and laws, including health and safety standards
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management staff

Job Requirements

• Current CA Food Handler’s Card
• Current CA Responsible Beverage Service Certificate
• A working knowledge of OSHA safety procedures and how to operate/build a safe work culture
• Able to work weekends
• Able to lift up to 55 lb’s unassisted
• Able to stand for 8-10 hours a day
• Able to work efficiently without compromising close attention to detail
• Great interpersonal skills
• Possess adequate computer skills and be able to familiarize self with brewery operating system
• Excel in team work environments

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years experience in production at a brewery, winery, kombuchary, distillery or production based work environment
• Forklift Certification a bonus
• Knowledge and passion for beer

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
