Your day-to-day:
  • Assistant Athletic Director for the MAP Center oversees the academic support and life skills programming of DI student-athletes and all MAP Center staff.
  • Responsible for all aspects of running the academic support center (MAP) for student-athletes.
  • Has Sport Administrator responsibilities as assigned.
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to, overseeing special events for student-athletes such as recognizing Academic performance, Athletic performance, Career Development, Personal Development and Service to the Community.
  • This position must collaborate closely with the Athletic Compliance Office to coordinate the certification of NCAA student-athlete eligibility, as well as any other academically mandated NCAA or institutional academic programming.
  • The Assistant AD for MAP responsibilities include informing, updating and educating student-athletes, coaches and other administrative athletic staff on all relevant academic programs being provided by the MAP Center.
  • Continuous evaluation of academic programs for improvement or changes in NCAA rules is vital for ensuring accurate and timely updates to offered programs.
  • Overseeing the implementation of a freshman success course specifically for student-athletes, maintaining and implementing academic support programs for “at-risk” student-athletes.
  • Oversight of Life Skills programming is a component of this position and includes career development and transitional skills out of college.

  • You have knowledge of student development, advising, learning, retention theories and best practices are preferred, particularly as they relate to DI student-athletes.
  • You have strong oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, time management skills and decision-making skills.
  • You have budget management skills and the ability to contribute to a leadership team within athletics and a higher education institution.
