OVERVIEW:

The Appointment Scheduler will be responsible for the scheduling of patient external doctors appointments, and the transportation coordination for said appointments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes new appointments, or confirms existing appointments for current patients. As well as coordinates transportation to and from said appointments.
  • Provides clear communication to patients and their families regarding appointment dates, times, and details.
  • Documents the notifications in the EMR and provides appointment cards to patients
  • Works with Nursing Services to advise them of daily appointments, and other information necessary for the smooth flow of appointments and communication.
  • Participates in in-service training
  • Assists in securing follow up appointments after discharge as needed, and with adjusting current appointment schedules as required
  • Works with the Director of Nursing on determining proper follow up appointments.
  • Other Job Duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be strong in Excel and Word
  • Scheduling program experience preferred
  • Knowledge of AHCA Regulations required
  • Must possess sensitivity in understanding patient and family needs while maintaining a sense of balance to ensure that appointment needs and facility needs are met for the facility.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of patient conditions and elements.
  • The noise level is moderate to quiet.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
  • This job operates in a health care setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the care center.
  • Incumbent may be exposed to virus, disease and infection from patients and specimens in working environment.
  • Incumbent may be required to work extended periods of time at a video display terminal.
  • Incumbent may experience traumatic situations, including psychiatric, and deceased patients.
  • This position may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, sitting for extended periods.
  • The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 20 pounds, if qualified as a C.N.A.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
