Job Summary/Overview

Metrology is a great place to work in a friendly environment. You will have a chance to work on material from all other departments of the FAB since Metrology supports all operation groups (MFG/UP/PIE) and supporting groups (Device, QA, FA, and ME). Metrology is to provide support to the fab with accurate and precise measurement data.

Since the nature of metrology work depends heavily on every aspect (equipment, process, applications, etc.), good teamwork and communication skills are required to be successful.

This open position is for a E2/Senior Inspection Applications Engineer, specifically focusing on defect detection, engineering analysis, troubleshooting/resolving issues daily in a factory environment, providing strong customer service to internal and external customers, decision making, daily tool health monitoring, automating routine tasks, improving BKMs (best known methods) and recipe setup for new & old devices. Candidate must be able to run Design of Experiment (DoE) and analyze the data to achieve the best solution.

The Inspection team provides most of the critical inspection data for device performance, yield, and quality, so candidate contribution will be counted on at every step.

Specific Job Duties

  • Able to understand and monitor tool health in assigned area.
  • Daily tool qualifications, health checks, and monitoring critical production trends.
  • NPI Recipe setup for new devices and engineering recipe creation, troubleshooting measurement issue.
  • Write, test, update, and implement accurate and precise SOP (Standard Operation Procedure)
  • Troubleshoot daily customers'(UP/PIE) issues and provide reports with detail analysis
  • Recipe setup for new devices using the Metrology Guide and auditing to ensure matching to process flow.
  • Engineering Recipe Setup. Troubleshooting measurement issues.
  • Troubleshooting automation, data collection, and lot track-out issues.
  • TTTM activity (Tool-To-Tool Matching) and execution of experiments for new metrology recipes by running Gauge R& R Study or MSA (Measurement System Analysis).
  • Work with multiple Metrology Engineers (Operations and Applications) on multiple projects
  • Analyze SPC failures and Abnormal Lots (ALPS) Release.
  • Data collection and interpretation of data.
  • Worked on advanced assignments with minimal to no supervision
  • Provides guidance to non-exempt and exempt personnel
  • Recipe creation for KLA Aleris (THK)


Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required

  • Minimum Four-Year Bachelor's degree in related field (Engineering, Physics, Chemistry).
  • 5+ year experience in semiconductor required.
  • 5+ year experience with Optical Thickness required.
  • Experience with KLA - Aleris 8350/8360/8510 or F5X will be preferred
