Shelter Manager – MUST have relevant experience working with animals

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

WORKS WITH: Cat Manager, Dog Manager, Office Manager, Full-time and part time shelter staff

PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Shelter Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the Hi Tor Animal Shelter facility, implementing existing and new internal systems, policies and procedures of the Shelter.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in the animal shelter.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ø Oversee, with other management, the general and medical care provided for animals coming in to shelter and ensure humane treatment.

Ø Work with Volunteer Coordinator to expand and retain volunteer and foster care programs.

Ø Provide animal-related assistance to community, volunteer groups, and the general public.

Ø Oversee marketing and publicity of activities, programs, and goals, only related to animal care.

Ø Work to resolve staff conflicts and grievances, as well as general staff management.

Ø Work with Executive Director on hiring, supervising, coaching, and training of animal welfare workers.

Ø Work to ensure that job descriptions are developed, that regular performance evaluations are conducted, that sound human resources practices are in place that abide by local, state, and federal law.

Ø Monitor safety compliance for staff and volunteers.

Ø Oversee record keeping practices for legally compliant adoption and other outcomes

QUALIFICATIONS

Ø Minimum of 1 – 3 years animal management experience
Ø Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends
Ø Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and motivational skills as well as the ability to work well in a fast paced environment; ability to handle multiple tasks at once

Job Type: 25 Hours to Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
