Job description
The Role
- Provide daily care for monkeys, e.g., watering, feeding, daily cleaning of cages, etc. within ABSL 2 & 3 labs
- Provide all other aspects of primate husbandry, including health checks, recording data and assisting Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians in health care and assist in environmental enrichment program.
Our Ideal Candidate
- High school diploma or GED required. Prefer one-year specific job experience or bachelors degree in related discipline.
- AALAS Certificate at the ALAT level preferred or licensed veterinary technician (LVT).
- Animal experience preferred.
- Must have valid driver’s license and meet Texas Biomed driving standards.

POTENTIAL HAZARDS:
Work involves strenuous physical activities of various kinds with routine exposure to animals, hazardous substances, potentially dangerous situations, and unpleasant work conditions (e.g. exposure to unpleasant odors or adverse weather conditions). The laboratory environment is managed by stringent safety and health standards and with adherence to protocol, the risk is very low.
OTHER: This is a full-time hourly paid position. Employee will normally work 7:00am to 4:00pm. Rotating schedule with some weekend and holiday work will be required. Pre-employment drug screen is required.
