Love animals and want to work with them? We're expanding our team and looking for conscientious part-time, full-time, and seasonal Animal Care Associates. The ideal candidate would be able to work independently as well as in a small team to help maintain a safe and sanitary facility for shelter animals, while providing humane animal handling and care with adherence to state and local laws. This position helps ensure that all animals' nutrition, housing, and basic medical needs are met on a daily basis. You would also be responsible for providing enrichment and comfort to animals.

We specifically are looking for staff members to cover weekend shifts, as well as other shifts as needed.

The Animal Care Associate is responsible for:

• Feeding and medicating animals.
• Daily cleaning and sanitizing of animal enclosures and housing as well as all other areas of the facility.
• Administering basic medical procedures to animals while under supervision, i.e. vaccinating, deworming, and microchipping.
• Providing needed grooming to animals, i.e. brushing, bathing, and nail trimming.
• Maintaining electronic records of animals in accordance with their supervisors
• Sharing front desk tasks/responsibilities with the rest of the team
• Frequently educating, assisting and communicating with the public
• Daily interaction with animals to provide enrichment.

The ideal candidate will have previous animal shelter experience and/or other animal care experience but we are willing to train the right person. Pay is based on experience.

Requirements:

• Ability to work varied hours, including weekends and some holidays.
• Must possess basic computer skills.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs, stand or walk for long periods of time, and be able to bend, kneel, or crouch repetitively.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Ability to reliably commute to work

The candidate must be comfortable working with cats and dogs of all breeds and sizes. This includes when they are injured, fearful, or fractious. This position means you are frequently exposed to strong smells, emotional situations, and sometimes uncomfortable medical procedures such as wound treatment or handling needles.

Preferred Skills

• Prior customer service experience.
• Prior professional animal experience, not including personal pets. Applicable experience includes working as a groomer, trainer, on a farm or stable, at another shelter or rescue, in a vet clinic, etc.

Salary: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour, based on experience
