Job Summary and Qualifications

SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1 Prepares patients, collects relevant information for completion of procedures.

2 Performs all Special Procedures. Maintains competency and proficiency with all interventional radiology

equipment in order to obtain quality images. Assists other departments as needed.

3 Observant of patients’ conditions.

4 Practices radiation safety as described in federal standards, utilizing ALARA and Radiation Right policies.

5 Understands and operates electronic information systems including Meditech, PACS, PACS cube, eMar etc.

6 Compiles appropriate records to expedite results.

7 Administers contrast media as required.

8 Participates in continuing education activities to expand/enhance knowledge of IR and to meet the continuing education requirements of the ARRT.

9 Participates in Department QA/performance improvement projects.

10 Maintains sterile technique during interventional radiology procedures.

11 Render patient care in a professional and courteous manner. Explain all procedures to the patient.

Performs physical assessment by checking IV’s , catheters, tubing etc.

12 Prepare equipment, monitor inventory and maintain cleanliness of procedure room and work area.

13 Various other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Registered Radiographer (ARRT)

• CPR by American Heart Association

• 1 year dedicated Interventional experience preferred
