Job Summary:

Establish and maintain physical and / or analytical test methods and instrumentation for analyzing film and resin compositions, performing defect analyses, and providing direct support to Research & Development and Operations. Provide analytical support for the evaluation of product contamination, competitive products, product integrity, and patent investigations. Provide expertise in specialized analytical methods to customers. Report all results of evaluations to appropriate internal customers.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Perform non-routine testing and conduct investigative evaluation for customer complaints, plant quality issues, and in support of R&D Product Development.
  • Perform routine physical and / or analytical testing with attention to detail to achieve high confidence results with statistical significance.
  • Assist in method development, lab projects, validation of new instruments, and process improvement for existing and new physical and analytical methods to support R&D, and for use in global Q.E. laboratories.
  • Assume ownership of all laboratory test equipment in analytical evaluation function. Perform routine calibrations, routine maintenance, simple troubleshooting, maintain quality records, documentations, and laboratory supplies.


Qualifications & Skills:

Required:

Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science & Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related field.

Desired:

2+ years' experience with Polymer Analysis. Working knowledge of basic analytical techniques (Microscopy, FTIR, UV-VIS, DOR, DMA, Raman, DSC, TGA, SEM, and EDS).

Experience:

Required:

1 to 2 years of relevant experience.

Desired:

Proficiency in Microscopy, SEM, and/or Rheology. 2+ years in a testing lab utilizing optical, spectral, rheological, and thermal analyses.
