POSITION: ANALYTICAL CHEMICAL LAB TECHNICIAN

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Analytical/Chemical Lab Technician performs routine analytical testing of raw materials and finished products. Provide analytical input in support of product development to formulation group. Write and update SOPs, validation protocols, reports, test procedures and specifications. Maintain laboratory notebooks and lab instruments in compliance with internal SOPs and current guidance. Communicate results in written and oral forms with the team lead in the laboratory.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

· Perform chemical analytical procedures and tests involving wet analysis and instrumentation for specific chemical constituents found in the wet process areas.

· Prepare and execute analytical work orders. Perform bath make up and discharges.

· Obtain a representative chemical sample and ship to independent or supplier lab for analysis. Maintain schedule for such activity and interpret test results.

· Perform prescribed analysis on incoming raw materials to ensure conformance to specifications.

· Utilize atomic absorption spectrophotometer, pH meter, ion chromatographer, and balance scales, etc. in performance of duties.

· Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

· A minimum of an Associate’s degree in a science discipline is required or a minimum of 2 years hands-on related experience in a lab environment

· Knowledge of health and safety, waste and chemical regulations, and safety equipment is required for this position

· Position subject to noise and some workplace hazards including proximity to mechanical parts and chemicals that require safe handling

· Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds of force required occasionally

· Must have some experience with equipment operation and calibration

· Knowledge of standard Chemistry techniques such as pH, titrations, wet chemistry, specific gravity water content

· Experience working in lab/research setting is a plus

· Good computer skills (knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
