Job Summary:

Performs maintenance and repairs on machines and equipment related refrigeration. Monitors status of ammonia refrigeration equipment in accordance with Process Safety Management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Able to lead by example and keeps a positive attitude at all times, and is completely focused on improving the department’s processes and culture.
  • Has general electro/mechanical abilities and takes a logical approach at determining the issues with equipment.
  • Understand the criticality of the situational maintenance program and can make decisions based on logical steps and best practices to accomplish repairs to positively affect overall downtime.
  • Understands concept of Root Cause analysis and contributes to overall discussions and problem solving strategies.
  • Understand and ensure that the CMS is being used to perform all PM’s.
  • Performing PM’s according to the CMS
  • Understanding the importance of Lockout/Tagout and follows all procedures.
  • Uses best practices to perform general and technical tasks as assigned.Reports to Maintenance Supervisor/Manager

Qualifications:

  • Organizational Structure:
  • Installs and sets up equipment or machines. Verifies all items on hand needed for set up.
  • Adjusts refrigeration machines and related equipment, according to maintenance schedule, manufacturer's service manuals and tolerances.
  • Repairs machines and related equipment when needed according to maintenance schedule and manufacturer's service manuals or on diagnosis of machine malfunctioning.
  • Inspects machines to detect potential malfunctions, listening to machine operation for evidence of excessive wear and need for adjustment.
  • Monitors equipment, gathers samples and complies data as needed to help in the validation of MBA Compliance requirements.
  • Replaces repaired parts or installs new parts to restore machine to operating condition.
  • Completes and maintains reports such as preventative maintenance and work performed records, parts inventories, and any other PSM related documentation.
  • Must know how to properly use shop equipment and tools, power tools, and hand tools.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
  • Education and/or Experience:
  • Associates degree or satisfactory completion of a formal training program.
  • A minimum of 2 or more years of experience/education with Ammonia refrigeration operations and must understand PSM requirements.
  • Years of experience may serve as equivalent to educational requirements.
  • Must satisfactorily complete IIAR testing with PSM Coordinator.
  • Must successfully pass accredited/approved ammonia refrigeration class for operator one.
  • Communication Skills:
  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language in order to communicate well.
  • Must have knowledge of maintenance/motive power language and terminology to effectively communicate within the department as well as to technical persons over the phone.
  • Show a comprehension of how to communicate effectively to individuals in a team setting.
  • Other Skills:
  • Must be able to demonstrate team building skills
  • Shows an understanding for how to communicate effectively in tough situations
  • Extends himself to serve others
