Position Summary:

If you are looking for an employment opportunity to support the research, education and outreach at UAF, please consider applying to the Alaska Sea Grant Temporary Pool. We may be hiring from this pool during the year, and duties assigned will vary depending on specific department’s needs. Applicants will be reviewed on an as-needed basis during the year.

Duties:

100Technical functions in support of the department. Employees will either assist faculty with projects and/or research or staff with office needs. Number of work hours will be determined dependent upon the needs of the department.Essential

Alaska Sea Grant, one of 33 Sea Grant programs nationwide, is a statewide program headquartered at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Sea Grant has been working in Alaska for almost 50 years. Our work supports healthy coastal resources, strong economies, and vibrant communities. We do this through research, education, and outreach via Marine Advisory agents who live and work in eight coastal communities across Alaska.

This is a general temporary pool posting and does not indicate a current vacancy. Applications may be used to fill multiple positions. Duties vary by position. Applications will be reviewed as necessary when position become available throughout the year.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Positive work ethic and good communication skills.
  • Positions may require knowledge and skills of basic office functions including computer usage.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Typically requires some previous experience, although specific requirements vary by position. Some college or comparable education may substitute for experience.
  • Applicants must comply with all UA Policy and Regulations requirements and limitations relating to student employees for the duration of their employment including enrollment and GPA requirements.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

  • Typically requires some previous training or demonstrated skills, although specific requirements vary by position. Some college or comparable experience may be necessary.

This position may be full-time or part-time. Starting hourly salary is a Temp Grade 74, minimum $14.37 hourly OR salary varies based on position and is commensurate with experience.

This is a pool position and successful submission of an application does not guarantee employment; applicants will be reviewed on an as-needed basis and successful applicants will be contacted as positions become available.
