What the position is:
CommuteAir is seeking an Aircraft Tire Shop Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operation of shop activities and ensure safe maintenance operations and compliance with all Company, FAA, and governmental safety rules and regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and performing all shop maintenance activities, monitoring non-routine discrepancies, and ensuring that all work is accomplished and documented in accordance with all Company procedural and regulatory requirements.

Essential functions:
  • Accountable for the Safety Management System (SMS) responsibilities described in the Company's SMS Manual and Title 14 CFR Part 5.23.
  • Supervise and perform all shop maintenance activities & ensuring all work is accomplished and documented in accordance with all Company procedural and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor non-routine discrepancies, inspection forms, work orders, all other paperwork, for the availability of parts, tooling, and materials to complete work assignments, and advise the Base Manager & Quality Control of any deficiencies found.
  • Ensure that all Shop hazardous materials storage is frequently inspected to ensure proper containers, lids, labeling, and location also that are handled and stored in accordance with Company and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain the shop materials including spill kits.
  • Ensure timely processing of unserviceable components to ensure adequate stocking levels.
  • Coordinate with the Mechanics in the accomplishment of the daily work plan.
  • Advise the Base Manager and Engineering on all items that require engineering or technical support for accessory or component repairs.
  • Coordinate with the Materials and Quality Control Department on all parts/tooling requirements, maintaining adequate levels and proper storage as necessary.
  • Coordinate with and advise the Inspection personnel regarding any abnormal discrepancies encountered, and for all RII inspection tasks required to shop components.
  • Ensure daily staffing levels meet all operational needs for the shop.
  • Responsible for the training & developing the skills, qualities, and capabilities of the shop utilized Technicians.
  • Shall coordinate with Base Manager to adjust Shop Department staffing schedules based on operational needs.
  • Shall have authority to adjust shop priorities based on operational needs.
  • May return company aircraft and equipment to service under the privileges of their certificate and company authorizations
General requirements & qualifications:
  • Must hold a current Airframe and Powerplant certificate and required Company authorizations.
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities and technical knowledge required to perform the duties of this position.
  • Know the appropriate Maintenance Policies and Procedures.
  • Must have one year experience as a certificated mechanic.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude toward productivity, safety, and quality of maintenance.
  • Hold a valid state-issued driver's license and government-issued passport.
