The AH-64 Aircraft Mechanic II (AH-64 Armament/Electrical) maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty.

  • Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.

  • Remove and install aircraft subsystem assemblies and components such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components.

  • Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions.

  • Required to possess the level of experience necessary to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by skill class Mechanic I and must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.

  • Required thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, repair procedures and replacement of parts requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.

  • Required basic knowledge of electrical theory.

  • Required thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.

  • Required working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, and the Army's Unit Level Logistics Aviation Information System, ULLSAE.

  • Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as aircraft technical manuals, maintenance information, blueprints or manufactures’ manuals and action messages.

  • Perform scheduled inspections and assist in performing special inspections.

  • Perform limited maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required.

  • Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Three (3) years aviation maintenance experience, three (3) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two (2) years on the assigned Mission Design Series AH-64 (MDS).

  • All experience must be within the six (6) most recent years.

  • A valid up-to-date A&P license is preferred but not required.

  • All mechanics assigned to perform maintenance on FAA certified aircraft must meet FAA requirements.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.

  • Must provide own tools/toolbox. Tools must be shadowed and etched with PID.

  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Preferred/Physical Qualifications:

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.

  • Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.

  • Frequently lifts parts and equipment up to 25 pounds.

  • Occasionally lifts objects up to 50 pounds.

  • Most heavy lifting is accomplished through the use of mechanical devices.

  • Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruised from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts in shop area.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.

  • The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance.

  • Knowledge of military and/or company forms required by work specifications is a plus.
