QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Proof of high school graduation/GED equivalent.

2. Experience working with children preferred.

3. Flexible and able to adjust daily routine.

4. Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.

5. Demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude.

6. Physically able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.

7. Must have:

a. 48 hours of college credits OR

b. Associates or higher degree OR

c. Competency on the CFISD proficiency test (score of 70 or above).

SALARY/PAYGRADE:

$20,634 – IP2

Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2022-2023


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assist in NAC classes to successfully implement the New Arrival Center curriculum and accelerate English language acquisition for new immigrants.

2. Work with NAC teachers to successfully transition immigrant students to English using the New Arrival Center Curriculum. 3. Tutor, on an individual basis or in a small group, pre-literate NAC students or other NAC students who are experiencing difficulty in a content area.

4. Assist teachers and campus personnel in communicating with parents of NAC students.

5. Prepare learning center/instructional materials for NAC students as requested by the NAC teacher during non-instructional time.

6. Work with the NAC Curriculum Coaches to enhance the achievement of the NAC students.

7. Participate in staff development/training courses to build and enhance skills useful in the delivery of instruction for NAC students.

8. Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.

9. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Special Populations supervisor.

10.Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard ofice equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; other specialized and adaptive equipment used by students

Posture: Frequent standing; kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking and reaching

Lifting: May require regular heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities, control behavior through physical restraint, assist nonambulatory students, and lift and move adaptive and other classroom equipment; may work prolonged or irregular hours

Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise; exposure to biological hazards (bacteria, communicable diseases)

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
