JOB TITLE: Aging Outreach Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Aging
SUPERVISOR: Chief Program Officer – Aging, Essential & Inclusion Services
STATUS: Full-time/Non-exempt
SALARY: $18.27 -$21/HR

Summary: Works with individuals 60 years of age and older who reside at the Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC) at the Ellison Park Apartments, The Rochester Highlands and Holocaust Survivors enrolled in JFS’ Care Management program. The Aging Outreach Coordinator provides technical support and training for a virtual senior center platform, completes data entry, creates social programming, oversees group activities, and performs outreach to the community.
The Aging Outreach Coordinator will work one-on-one and in groups, often performing home visits. This position requires travel throughout Monroe County. JFS is committed to providing services to the community regardless of their faith, race, national origin, gender identification, sexual orientation or financial situation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Virtual Senior Center

  • Recruits, enrolls and supports residents at the NORC, the Rochester Highlands and the Holocaust Survivors into the virtual senior center program. o Coordinates and maintains the lending of iPads, ensuring that all agreements and records are maintained. o Provides technical support to residents and the Holocaust Survivors. o Provides basic computer 101 and/or Zoom 101 classes for interested residents. o Creates and offers zoom classes to the participants. o Travels to various locations throughout Monroe County to enroll participants in the virtual senior program.

Social Coordination at the NORC

  • Leads outreach efforts to increase resident engagement and participation. o In partnership with the Resident Council at the NORC, identifies strategies for effective communication of resources and opportunities available to residents. o Conducts outreach to residents at events, by phone, and through home visits. o Implements strategies to make programming accessible to non-English speakers. o Creates and disseminates a monthly activity calendar. o Assists in obtaining feedback from residents on their experiences and needs.
  • Develops and maintains strong partnerships with local organizations and providers to enhance social offerings and activities available to residents.
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements a balanced program of activities that promote physical/mental/emotional/social health and wellness and build a sense of community among a diverse resident population.
  • Creates and facilitates virtual and in-person offerings, including educational workshops, social and recreational activities, intergenerational programming, food distribution, and community-wide events. o Coordinates with outside agencies and organizations who provide on-site programming.
  • Completes administrative tasks to support programming. o Assists with the resident registration process. o Coordinates refreshments as needed. o Prepares, completes, and monitors attendance for all activities. o Documents resident participation and case notes in the agency database system.

Social Coordination for Holocaust Survivors

  • Utilizing knowledge of intergenerational trauma to collaborate, create, and connect Holocaust Survivors to cultural events, social and educational programs and activities.
  • Provide cultural, social and educational opportunities for second generation children of Holocaust Survivors.

Other Duties

  • Attends supervision, staff meetings, and staff development activities.
  • Functions as part of the JFS team to meet the needs of clients and the agency.
  • Other duties as requested by supervisor.

Education and Experience:

  • AAS or bachelor’s degree in human services or related experience.
  • Two years of experience in an administrative support position or related experience.
  • Must have a driver's license and a reliable car.
  • Strong networking/outreach skills, communication, and writing skills.
  • Must have excellent organizational and technological skills.
  • Demonstrated abilities include critical thinking skills, professionalism, and ability to maintain. confidentiality, ability to work resourcefully.
  • Strong proficiency with all Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Russian speaking a plus.
