Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council is a non-profit organization formed by the Native American Tribes of Wisconsin. Aging & Disability Administrative Assistant


The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative and fiscal assistance to the Director. Assist the Director and staff by managing and supporting program budgetary and administrative activities. This individual is expected to be the coordinator of clerical/administrative/fiscal duties for the department. Daily attendance is an essential function of this position.


Principal Duties:

  • Monitor monthly financial reports, budget modifications and prepare federal forms for grant submission and continuation applications.
  • Monitor monthly budget and time reports.
  • Perform general administrative and reporting functions.
  • Monitor program budgets, assuring that expenses are appropriately distributed.
  • Process vouchers for payment.
  • Review and voucher department invoices and staff travel reimbursements before sending to accounting for processing.
  • Discuss year-to-date expense vs. budget reports for grants and contracts with the Director and appropriate staff.
  • Assist Director in meeting standards and reporting requirements imposed by agencies and monitor for compliance.
  • Manage completion of travel forms, purchase orders and disbursement processes.
  • Assist with routine correspondence, organizing, and maintaining file system, assemble reports, publications, and outreach materials.
  • Facilitate planning of future space needs, with appropriate internal staff.
  • Assure coordination of office supplies, office equipment maintenance and IT equipment inventory.
  • Assure that all services are delivered in a culturally sensitive manner.
  • Participate on various committees outside and within the organization as deemed necessary and appropriate to the position and supervisor.
  • Attend all training sessions and meetings as scheduled.
  • Attend technical conferences and seminars to stay current on technological advances.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.

This is a full-time opportunity working Mon-Fri 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM 40 hours per week with a work location in Lac Du Flambeau, WI. This is not a remote position. Limited travel may be required. This position has a starting range of $17.00 - $19.00 per hour with benefits including Annual/Personal Leave and Holiday Pay; Health, Dental, Life & AD&D, STD and LTD Insurance, FSA and 403(b) Retirement Plan.


Qualifications: Any equivalent combination of experience and education that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Required: Associate degree with a business or financial focus with at least three years of prior office management experience. Acceptable experience substitution includes five or more years of increasingly responsible experience in account maintenance or financial recordkeeping. Preferred: Experience with a Native American Tribal organization and/or not-for-profit agency. Individual must possess: excellent verbal and written communication skills; professional demeanor and appearance; problem solving skills; ability to manage time effectively; self-motivation skills; work effectively under pressure and be flexible; ability to build positive work relationships and provide referrals with internal and external customers; ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of people; ability to interpret complex written material; basic math skills; be an independent worker; and maintaining effective working relationships. Must possess valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation with adequate insurance.
