POSITION SUMMARY

The After School Site Coordinator/Administrator - Elementary (7th Street)is to provide leadership, supervision, and administrative skills so as to promote the educational development of each student by planning, directing, and coordinating the academic, clerical, and auxiliary activities of an elementary school campus.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plan, develop, and implement the total curricular and extra-curricular programs of the school; and perform all duties as outlined by NLRSD Policy in addition to conforming to State and Federal laws. See that Arkansas Department of Education rules and standards are met so as to keep the school in good standing with ADE Annual Accreditation Reports.
  • Evaluate curricula, teaching methods, and programs to determine their effectiveness, efficiency, and utilization, and to ensure that school activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Plan and develop instructional methods and content for educational, vocational, or student activity programs. Collaborate with the Executive Director of Elementary Education to assist with the alignment of the curriculum in all content areas to include testing programs.
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to develop and maintain curriculum standards, develop mission
  • statements, and set performance goals and objectives.
  • Review and approve new programs, or recommend modifications to existing programs, submitting
  • program proposals for school board approval as necessary.
  • Prepare, maintain, or oversee the preparation and maintenance of attendance, activity, planning, or
  • personnel reports and records.
  • Observe teaching methods and examine learning materials to evaluate and standardize curricula and
  • teaching techniques; and to determine areas where improvement is needed.
  • To plan, direct, and account for the professional development education of staff.
  • Confer with parents and staff to discuss educational activities, policies, and student behavioral or
  • learning problems. Provide guidance for students regarding personal, academic, vocational, and or behavioral issues, in addition to maintaining proper discipline and promoting the principles of good citizenship.
  • Mentor other staff members in such a way as to enhance their chances for being successful in their roles at school.
  • Organize and direct committees of specialists, volunteers, and staff to provide technical and advisory assistance for programs.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships between pupil-staff, school-community, school-central office, and administration-staff.
  • Ensure adequate supervision of students and staff at school-sponsored activities both on and off-campus.
  • Set educational standards and goals, and help establish policies and procedures to carry them out.
  • Direct and coordinate school maintenance services and the use of school facilities.
  • Enforce discipline and attendance rules.
  • Establish, coordinate, and oversee particular programs to evaluate student academic achievement.
  • Review, interpret, monitor, and adhere to state and federal laws, in addition to Arkansas Department of Education rules and regulations as they apply to the school setting. Monitor and enforce governmental codes and facility safety, security, and maintenance regulations. Determine allocations of funds for staff, supplies, materials, and equipment, and authorize purchases.
  • See that information is distributed to assist in the promotion of the students, the school, and the programs and facilities of the school.
  • Recommend personnel actions related to programs and services.
  • Determine the scope of educational program offerings, and prepare drafts of course schedules and descriptions to estimate staffing and facility requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

Minimum of a Master’s Degree or higher in Educational Leadership with a valid Arkansas Teacher's License with appropriate Elementary Building Administrator Certification.


Experience

At least five (5) years of successful teaching experience and or administrative experience; Elementary Principal and/or Assistant Principal experience preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is generally an office environment but frequently includes meeting with students, parents,

and others who are dealing with topics related to the school setting. Trips to other schools, other school districts, and out-of-area meetings and conferences are required. Time away from home is significant. Expectations are for the Principal to meet the responsibilities of the regular school day and go beyond to include attendance at all after-hour school and civic functions. Attendance at indoor and outdoor school activities are necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. The ability to deal with the public, meet deadlines, and work under pressure is required to perform this job.
