Child Care Provider JD 8207

Job Summary:

Under supervision of the Principal and After School Program Site Coordinator, the Child
Care Provider will provide a variety of child care activities including tutoring, recreation, and enrichment to school-aged students.

Essential Functions of this position are, but not limited to, the following:

1. Mentor, supervise and interact with children ranging in ages from 5 to

13 years.

2. Provides tutorial activities in a variety of subjects and grade levels including reading and understanding homework assignments.

3. Provides safe, well supervised, and creative recreational activities inside and outside as appropriate to time and conditions.

4. Assists in maintaining a neat, orderly and attractive environment.

5. Sets up and arranges supplies and equipment for student use.

6. Maintains discipline in a manner consistent with school procedures.

7. Operates audio-visual equipment.

8. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with parents.

9. Performs other related duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school graduate or high student with valid work permit desired

2. Child care experience desirable

3. Recreation experience desirable

4. Able to speak Spanish desired

5. CPR/First Aid training within each three-year period.

Knowledge and Ability

1. Ability to work with children in a positive manner.

2. Knowledge of and ability to administer basic first aide.

3. Ability to carry out duties using good judgment, sound decisions, and safe practices.

4. Works to maintain cooperative work relationships with staff, parents and students.

5. Ability to drive a car.

Physical Requirements of this position as listed are not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary with the requirements of the job:

1. Facility to see, distinguish colors, and read educational materials, books and other printed matter.

2. Facility to hear and understand speech at normal classroom and outdoor levels and on the telephone.

3. Facility to speak in audible tones so that others can understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the phone.

4. Manual dexterity to dial a telephone , type on a computer, write on the board and paper, and perform assigned classroom tasks using both hands.

5. Facility to walk on uneven terrain such as playgrounds.

6. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

7. Physical strength and agility to lift storage boxes, AV equipment, etc. up to 20 pounds to shoulder height and up to 40 pounds to waist height.

8. Physical agility to bend, stoop, climb stairs, walk, and reach overhead.

9. Facility to drive a car.

10. Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position in an accurate, neat, timely fashion; to make good judgments and decisions; and to evaluate the results of decisions and judgments.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.57 - $22.43 per hour

Experience:

• Childcare: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:
