Established in 1980 in Park Slope, Brooklyn, Beansprouts offers high-quality preschool, after-school, and day camp programming for children ages 1.9 to 9. At Beansprouts, our decisions are driven by what is best for children - from crafting our rich, age-appropriate curriculum to thoughtfully constructing a classroom to represent the unique interests and qualities of the children that occupy it.

Today, Beansprouts is seeking a group leader to join our team for our year-round after-school and day camp programs. This is a part-time position that can lead to a full-time role and will report directly to the After School Director and Program Coordinator. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in working with children to gain experience in the field and learn from a fun, creative, and supportive team.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties related to the day-to-day operations of school-age programs and ensure a safe and engaging group environment.
• Manage a specific group of counselors and children; ensure an overall positive experience.
• Serve as a leader and mentor to members of the team by maintaining program rules, policies, and core values.
• Engage and support children in play-based activities.
• Build rapport, and communicate effectively with children, families, and other team members.
• Engage in ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work Monday - Friday, from 2 pm - 6 pm, to start with the possibility of expanding into a full-time role.
• Must have some college credits; or be enrolled in a bachelor’s or associate’s degree program.
• Must have at least two years of related experience at an established school, after-school, or day camp program.
• Should possess the ability to be creative, caring, responsible, and think on your feet.
• Should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills; and be positive, patient, and reliable.
