Brookhaven Hospital is pleased to announce openings for Certified Medication Aides. Brookhaven Hospital specializes in the rehabilitation of adults with neurologic disorders such as acquired brain injury(ABI). Brookhaven is a nationally recognized provider of neurobehavioral interventions for persons with cognitive and behavioral disorders resulting from ABI.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurately and safely prepares, administers and documents the administration of all appropriate, physician-ordered medications and treatments under the leadership of a licensed nurse, in accordance with established nursing standards, policies, procedures and federal/state regulations
  • Administer medications utilizing Win-Pharm per facility policy/procedure
  • Ensure departmental computer workstations are properly logged off per facility policy
  • Immediately report changes in patient's condition to facility Charge Nurse/PCC/ DON
  • Supports patients in self care and provides care assistance as necessary
  • Assists with the planning and organizing of activities and groups
  • Supports patients in completion of household tasks to ensure cleanliness of the household including patient rooms, common spaces, support spaces and equipment
  • Provides oversight and assistance in the completion of personal laundry
  • Maintains supply of all materials to meet household and patient needs

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be a Advanced Certified Medication Aide (ACMA) with Glucose certification, having successfully completed the state approved training program and any necessary examination(s) - 1 year experience preferred
  • Must have a current Certified Nursing Assistant Certification
  • Food Handlers Permit
  • CPI/CPR Certification
  • Meet qualifications to become certified driver
  • Must be able to work rotating weekend shifts
  • Ability to pass state or federal background checks, pre-employment physical and drug screen

PHYSICAL CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods
  • May be required to lift or push up to 65lbs
  • Requires the ability to read, write, and process information accurately.
