Job description
The Adult Residential Specialist is responsible for assisting in the care and treatment of clients in residential, respite, and hold facilities. The Specialist performs a wide variety of paraprofessional duties including life skills training, limited psycho-social interventions, and assisting in delivering services to mentally ill adults. Facilitates resident cooking, cleaning, and general maintenance duties. May be assigned in certain settings to administer medications and perform basic nursing duties under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (Division 47 of the Nurse Practice Act). This is an on-call position without a set schedule. Work may be performed at different locations within Klamath Falls.
Education and/or Experience: Must meet Oregon State (OARS) requirements and MHACBO certification as a "Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA)," meeting the following minimum qualifications: (a) Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science field: or(b) A combination of at least three years relevant work, education, training or experience. Additionally, must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, understand mental health assessment, treatment, and service terminology and apply each of these concepts. Implement skills development strategies, and identify, implement and coordinate the services and supports identified in an ISSP. Preferred experience: Previous experience working with adults diagnosed with mental illness or any disability group preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Oregon driver’s license, insurable driving record. Personal automobile insurance is required if clients are transported or any agency business is conducted by the employee using his/her personal vehicle. Must meet the requirements to become MHACBO QMHA Certified. Certification must be maintained for the length of employment. Must maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
Driving is a requirement for this position. Proof of insurance must be provided to the HR department. Coverage must remain current.
