Major Duties
Under general supervision of the Recreation and Tourism Management Department Chair, the Administrative Support Assistant provides general administrative support assistance to the department, and is responsible for all departmental work assignments including the submission and retention of students and faculty-submitted forms. The incumbent performs general receptionist duties, and supports the main department office in daily operations and procedures, including recruitment and training of student workers.
  • Maintains department electronic files, assists with office supply orders, coordinates work activities for student workers, serves as a liaison to Federal Work Study Office, Human Resources and Payroll regarding student employee issues and routine department communications.

  • Supports department faculty with processing textbook orders, updates faculty office hours and part-time faculty pools, manages department calendars, faculty and student listservs and record meeting minutes.

  • Operates office machines like voicemail systems, photocopiers and scanners, manages department emails and forwards to relevant parties, and completes work schedules for student workers.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Qualifications
  • Equivalent to three (3) years of full-time, general office clerical work that has provided the applicant with the knowledge and abilities listed.

  • Equivalent to full-time college or university education/vocational school training in business or job-related field may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required experience on a year for year basis.

  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of: correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; and office methods and basic filing systems procedures and practices.

  • Ability and specialized skills to: organize, coordinate, and prioritize multiple tasks; learn, identify, and independently interpret and apply a variety of complex policies and procedures; review and resolve routine clerical problems; work in a busy environment with frequent interruptions;

  • Ability and specialized skills to: communicate effectively both orally and in writing; prepare and draft memoranda and correspondence; keep moderately complex records and files; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; operate standard office equipment, and software.


  • Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • Classification/grade: 1032 / ASA II / 2

  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $2670 - $2739 (PTE) per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $2670 - $3930 (PTE) per month.

  • HOURS: Part Time; 32 hours per week; Monday through Friday.

  • REG: This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.

  • The position is currently hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
