Work Schedule: This is a part-time;non-exempt position; 29 hours/week; schedule to be determined, between 9:00 am-5:00 pm. This a temporary appointment ending on or before June 30, 2023, with the possibility for renewal, contingent upon the availability of funds.

Position Overview:

#CaliforniansForAll College Corps is a first-of-its-kind state service and career development program that provides students with financial support and professional experience while engaging them in meaningful community action around education, climate, and food insecurity

The San Gabriel Valley and East Los Angeles Consortium: Cal State LA will serve as the lead agency of the San Gabriel Valley and East Los Angeles Consortium for the Californians for All Program. The Consortium also includes Cal Poly Pomona, East Los Angeles College, and Rio Hondo College. The Consortium will recruit and retain a total of 200 fellows who will each provide 450 service hours at one of the program’s community-based organization partners.

The Administrative Support Assistant position is primarily responsible for ensuring the smooth operations of the College Corps Program by providing excellent administrative support to the Consortium Director and Program staff. This position works under the direct supervision of the Consortium Director and generally under the Executive Director, Center for Engagement, Service, and the Public Good. The Administrative Support Assistant will support the Consortium Director, who is responsible for facilitating Consortium activities, to ensure that each campus is in compliance with AmeriCorps and California Volunteers requirements. The Administrative Support Assistant will also assist the College Corps Project Director with program implementation including fellow recruitment and will participate in the program planning process with program community partners to ensure a relevant and impactful program design.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide clerical and general office support as needed such as managing program calendar and program database/files.
  • Assist Consortium Director with collection of impact data collection and ongoing communication with campus partners, partner agencies, and Fellows to ensure compliance with California Volunteers
  • Assist Project Director with streamlining Fellow recruitment processes, time reporting, and logistics related to training and fulfillment of hours
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of program budgets and prepare expense reports
  • Support with streamlining new staff and fellow onboarding procedures
  • Assist Project Director in preparing Fellow Development Workshop presentations
  • Advise fellow affinity groups such as the Fellow Engagement & Retention Committee and the Fellow Ambassador

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and related software
  • Strong multi-tasking and organization skills
  • A critical thinker, with a high level of initiation, motivation, and enthusiasm
  • Previous experience working with college students and/or community-based partners
  • Bilingual/bicultural is a plus


Education:

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited four-year college or university is strongly preferred.
