The Emergency Communications Center (ECC) is the main 9-1-1 call taking centers for all wireless callers in Manatee County and landline callers outside of the City of Bradenton jurisdiction. Manatee County ECC takes 9-1-1 calls for Police, Fire, and Medical service with a total over 400,000 emergency and non-emergency calls per year. ECC also dispatches for Manatee County Emergency Medical Service, Manatee County Marine Rescue, and seven independent fire agencies:
  • West Manatee Fire Rescue
  • East Manatee Fire Rescue District
  • Cedar Hammock Fire Control District
  • Southern Manatee Fire Rescue
  • Duette Volunteer Fire Rescue
  • North River Fire Rescue
  • Parrish Fire Control District

The Administration Specialist - provides administrative support for the Emergency Communication Center Chief and administration. This position answers the phone as the first point of contact on their behalf. This position plans, organizes and schedules appointments and meetings for management and attends meetings to take minutes and documents follow up actions as requested. The Administration Specialist makes travel arrangements for management and other employees as directed and facilitates travel approvals and reimbursements.

Job Description

What You Will Do
  • Plans, organizes, and schedules appointments and meetings for management. Attends meetings to take minutes and document follow up actions, as requested. Maintains division and/or section calendars.
  • Maintains office supply inventory. Orders supplies as needed and authorized.
  • Makes travel arrangements for management and other employees as directed. Facilitates travel approvals and reimbursements. Reconciles expense reports.
  • Prepares correspondence, reports, letters, and meeting minutes for management as assigned.
  • Performs other related work (including weather or other extreme emergency duties) as required.

  • Knowledge and understanding of modern office procedures.
  • Ability to resolve routine situations and problems.
  • Able to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with changing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Capable of working under moderate supervision
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills to interact professionally and effectively with staff, management, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 or more years of administrative experience supporting mid-level management.
Desired Skills
  • Previous accounting or fiscal experience desired for those positions with fiscal responsibilities.
