St. John the Evangelist Church, located in beautiful Long Green Valley, is seeking candidates for an Administrative Assistant.
The Administrative Assistant will report to the Parish Business Manager and will often serve as the first point of contact for parishioners and visitors.
Job Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist all visitors to the parish office and answers the phone including the emergency line
- Supervise parish office volunteers
- Manage and maintain sacramental records for baptisms, marriages and funerals
- Assists the Business Manager with research, responses and resolutions to questions and/or concerns
- Enters donor information in the parish database
- Records office cash receipts
- Performs a variety of administrative tasks, such as preparing letters, receives and sends mail, maintaining the office calendar, scheduling clergy and sacristans, assisting parishioners to obtain Mass cards, etc.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college or college degree preferred
- Five years or more of administrative experience
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products
- General knowledge of the Catholic Church, including Sacraments, is preferred
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional demeanor in all situations
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
