JOB DESCRIPTION:

Arlington Public Schools (APS) requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless a medical or religious exemption is approved. Being fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen (i.e. Pfizer, Moderna, and/or Johnson and Johnson). As a condition of employment, newly hired employees will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination.

Human Resources announces an opening for a 1.0 FTE Adminstrative Assistant . This position is a 260-days, Grade G-08 located at Extended Day Department.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Customer Service :

    • Ensure daily coverage of the Extended Day Welcome Center - in-person, email, and phone.

    • Assist families with Extended Day registration, family accounts, and program operations.

    • Receive and post payments.

    • Provide families general information and referrals to other departments in Arlington Public Schools.

  • Clerical Support:

    • Perform a variety of office related financial, accounting and budgetary tasks, utilizing a variety of office technology hardware and software (STARS).

    • Provide clerical support to Central Office staff to enter data, file documents, and prepare material for meetings.

    • Schedule meetings for Extended Day staff meetings.

    • Review monthly purchasing documentation from supervisory staff.

    • Assist with scheduling of interviews

  • Other duties as assigned.


EXPERIENCE:

EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers from administrative offices, field-based school personnel, vendors, and the general public.

  • Experience with childcare management systems or student information systems (e.g. Synergy).

  • Experience with customer service software (e.g. Zendesk, Webex)

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)


QUALIFICATIONS:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from high school, including or supplemented by courses in keyboarding and computer utilization and office practices.

  • Knowledge of clerical practices, preferably in an education or education-related setting; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the job responsibilities.

  • Some college business management course work is preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and Google Docs and Sheets,

  • Possess excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.

SALARY:

Salary range of $39,478.40 to $71,260.80 annually based upon 22/23 pay plan.

Newly hired employees with previous experience in their field may receive salary credit for up
to five years of experience related to the job being filled.
