Summary: The Supervisor, Refugee Youth & Family Adjustment Services provides oversight of youth and cultural adjustment programs for refugee youth and families. Supervisory duties include Youth and Family Services and Adjustment staff, ensuring high-quality service delivery, contract compliance and meeting funder & grant report deadlines. The Supervisor will serve as a leader in the planning and implementation of services for refugee youth and families. Individual accountabilities and work volume will be established through the development of annual Success Objectives within the framework outlined below.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates program staff, track certifications or training needed, and ensures quality services, following Heartland Alliance’s Philosophy of Care, policies and procedures, and culturally competent practices;
  • Stays fully aware of contractual goals and committed program outcomes related to youth and adjustment services and overlapping service areas (such as English Language Training, Employment, Resettlement & Placement, etc)
  • Ensures the accuracy and timely availability or data for funder reporting related but not limited to Youth and Adjustment Services; meets CARF-accreditation or other applicable standards.
  • Monitors program outcomes under youth and adjustment services, including but not limited to: K-12 case management, early childhood education, youth mentoring, SAPP program, case management and Preferred Communities, women’s empowerment program; development and support of new and existing programs
  • Generates reports or assists in the generation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and performance measurements both internally and to meet grant requirements
  • Builds linkage agreements between Refugee & Immigrant Community Services and community partners
  • Participates on internal committees ( such as: RICS Management; new employee orientation, quality management, or others)
  • Coordinates with external partners such as the Refugee Health Task Force, Refugee Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, Refugee K-12 Stakeholders, the Special Events Committee and the Department of Human Services.
  • Represents agency to other agencies.
  • Attends workshops and conferences related to program development and quality service (such as: communications, employee training, marketing, sales, and program management)
  • Advocates to ensure participants receive eligible benefits
  • Connects participants to community resources such as medical providers, schools, after school care, mental health providers, etc.
  • Coordinates with fellow management to ensure RICS services are aligned
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

§ Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in youth services, refugee services, or related areas. May give credit towards years of experience if attained a degree higher than a Bachelor’s Degree. Some supervisory experience preferred. Experience in accredited setting preferred.

§ Other Skills and Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English. Some supervisory experience preferred. Proficiency in a second language is an asset but not required. Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange; Windows operating systems; and other software routinely used by Heartland Alliance.
